Welcome to the month of May! Can you believe that one third of the year has passed? I for one am glad that the rain is behind us and the weather has been warming up.
What did we do in April?
- Held our first meeting at our new meeting location, Grace Lutheran Church. I don’t know about you, but I sure enjoyed having the extra space to stretch out.
- Launched our new website. If you have not checked it out, please do so and let me know how to make it better for you. Be sure to check the For Sale section often as more equipment is added every week.
- Held the first of soon to be many FIeld Day planning meetings.
- Jacques held 2 CQ’ers Club POTA activation. Always a good time, and it’s amazing how far you can talk with just a mobile antenna when the bands cooperate.
What do we have planned for May?
- Field Day is less than 2 months away and we need YOUR help! At this month’s meeting we will go over what was covered in the April planning meeting, and further plan our club’s FD event at Oxnard College. We will also be scheduling more planning sessions in the month and will post dates on Groups.io and our website.
- May 10th
- Our next monthly club meeting. Guest speaker David Pepper WA6TWA will be giving us a talk on transmitter hunting in Los Angeles in the 60’s. Have any of you tried T hunting? Is this something you would like to try at our September picnic?
- May 18th
- 8:30am – VE session. Looking to upgrade or know someone that is ready to take their test? We have many slots still open for this session.
- 11:00am – Project/Help event. This will be the first of several project meetings this year. This particular one will go over using and installing Anderson Powerpole connectors and putting a PL-259 connector on a coax cable.
Is there anything else you want to learn at this event? How to use a multimeter? Test batteries? Let me know and I’ll try and add it in.
See you guys at the May 10th club meeting!
