The Ventura County Amateur Radio Club (VCARC), call sign K6MEP, is an ARRL affiliated club that was organized in 1936. With over 55 members, VCARC has something for everyone. Whether you’re looking to exchange ideas, learn from others, or teach something new, you’ll find a welcoming community within the club. From building and tuning your own antennas to learning CW (Morse code), activating summits or parks with SOTA and POTA, engaging in digital communications, or connecting with fellow radio enthusiasts around the world, VCARC offers a diverse range of activities and interests.
VCARC is an IRS 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the Ventura County community by promoting interest in amateur radio communication, providing emergency communications in the event of disasters, and offering community service to our local area.
Our club meets on the second Friday of each month at 7:00pm at Grace Lutheran Church on Telephone Rd in Ventura. (Formerly at Dudley House), we provide a special interest program at each meeting following the business agenda. Come join us and enjoy the educational benefits of amateur radio, along with the camaraderie of friends old and new, and usually some amazing snacks.
Guests are always welcome at club meetings. If you’re interested in Amateur Radio and/or want to know how to become an FCC Licensed HF, VHF, or UHF radio operator, then we would love to meet you. We can show you how to get a license, what type of radios and antennas you will need to match your interests, and pretty much anything else you would like to know. Why not come to our next meeting and say hello?
We offer testing every other month for all license levels. Please refer to our schedule for more information. Following most tests, we have a portable operations event on site, often accompanied by a BBQ, because it’s not just about the radio; it’s about the people too.
Tune your 2-meter radio to the Sulphur Mountain repeater, 145.200 minus offset, 127.3Hz, every Monday at 8:00pm, and join us for the weekly net.
